Maria Parra Reyes Skin Cancer 2024

Maria Parra Reyes

I am a PhD student at the Institute of Molecular Immunology, TUM University Hospital in Munich, Germany, in the group of Prof. Jan Böttcher. I hold a Master’s degree in Cancer Biology from Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where I developed a strong interest in cancer biology and tumor immunology. Before starting my PhD, I gained research experience in skin cancer and photobiology at the University of Queensland, Australia. My current research focuses on tumor-resident conventional type 1 dendritic cells (cDC1s) and their role in anti-tumor immunity. In the Böttcher group, I am particularly interested in how interactions between cDC1s and other immune cells within the tumor microenvironment shape their phenotype and function, and how these interactions contribute to effective anti-tumor immune responses.
